Before exploring its journey of growth, let us briefly visit the start of Google. The google.com registered - 1997. Google Inc. founded by Sergey Brin & Larry Page - Sept. 4, 1998. Duo worked from their dorm rooms & build a search engine called as Backrub, later renamed as “Google”.

Once the duo made meaningful advancement on the mission, they shifted activities to the Google’s first office—a rented garage. Sept. 27, 1998, Google Inc. was officially launched.

Sources claim that Google started on Sept 4, 1998, but the Google began celebrating its anniversary on Sept. 27 in 2005 after an announcement that Google was shifting away from how pages it had indexed.

Let us explore the growth of the Google through some of the biggest acquisitions. In the year 2004Google acquired “Online Video” platform, “You Tube” for $1.65 B. It is estimated YouTube has made about $14.358 B so far in 2023.

In the year 2006 Google acquired AdMob, a Mobile advertising for $750 M. Google says “we’ve seen an average of 31% ad revenue lift on iOS” on the top of time savings.

In the year 2007 Google acquired DoubleClick, an Online advertising, for $3.1 B.

In the year 2007 Google acquired Fitbit, a Consumer electronics, for $2.1 billion

In the year 2007 Google acquired Waze, GPS navigation software, for $1.3 billion

In the year 2011, Google acquired ITA Software, Software and travel, for $700 million.

In the year 2014, Google acquired Nest, Home automation, for $3.2 billion.

In the year 2017, Google acquired HTC, Telecommunications, for $1.1 billion.

In the year 2019, Google acquired Looker, Data analytics, for $2.6 billion.

Motorola Mobility, 2012, Telecommunications, £12.5 billion In the year 2012 Google acquired Motorola Mobility, Telecommunications, for £12.5 billion. It was the biggest acquisition by Google. It was sold in a couple of years. Motorola is not a Google company anymore.

It appears acquisitions of most of the companies has helped Google to value add to its products and to boost its revenue of its existing “Verticals” rather than generate revenue separately.
